The limbs or extremities or members of animals are certain parts exterior to the body, which are more or less apparent, long, and moveable. It is by means of their limbs, that animals transport themselves from one place to another; and that they defend themselves, or attack others. The limbs are arranged on each side of the trunk, with which they are articulated. In man, they are four in number: - two upper or thoracic, and two lower, pelvic or abdominal. Also, the male organ.
