In the civil law. The private and exclusive ownership or dominion of an individual. Things capable of being possessed by a single person to the exclusion of all others (or which are actually so possessed) are said to be in patrimonio; if not capable of being so possessed, (or not actually so possessed,) they are said to be extra patrimonium.
