Garden Ginger, (F.) Piment, Poivre d'Inde, Poivre de Guinee, Corail des Jardins. Order, Solaneae. The pungent, aromatic properties of Baccoe Capsici, Cap'sicum Berries, Capsicum (Ph. U.S.), are yielded to ether, alcohol, and water. They are highly stimulant and rubefacient, and are used as a condiment. Their active principle is called Capsicin.
