An English dramatist who lived in the 17th century. He is the author of "The Love-Sick King" (1655), reprinted as "The Perjured Nun" (1680). The famous play "Lingua, or the Combat of the Five Senses for Supremacy" (1607), half masque, half morality, was long ascribed to him and bestowed fame on his name. "The Merry Devil of Edmonton" (1608) and "The Country Girl" (1647) were long taken for his.
