An American prose-writer; born at Elmington, Va., Feb. 15, 1835. His publication of "The Story of Don Miff, as Told by his Friend, John Bouche Whacker, a Symphony of Life" (1886), reached its fourth edition in six months. He also published "Gold that Did not Glitter".

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
