An American author; born in Boston, Dec. 14, 1826; graduated at Harvard in 1845. His Paris letters to the New York Times, signed "Dick Tinto", first brought him into notice. He published: "Court of Napoleon; or, Society under the First Empire" (1857); "Women of Beauty and Heroism" (1859); "World-Famous Women, from Semiramis to Eugenie" (1870); and others.
