From Internal Maxillary. To roof of pharynx, Eustachian tube, tympanum.

Named after Vidius, an Italian anatomist; as V. canal in the sphenoid bone, transmitting the V. artery (branch of the inferior maxillary) and V. nerve, formed by the union of the great petrosal branch of the facial with carotid branches from the sympathetic, and running to Meckel’s ganglion.
