This is the largest of the two branches in which the ophthalmic artery terminates. It issues from the orbit, above the tendon of the orbicularis palpebrarum, passes above the side of the root of the nose, and anastomoses with the last extremity of the facial. Haller gave the name nasal to the spheno-palatine. He also called the dorsales nasi, furnished by the external maxillary.
