Arteries that are distributed to the muscles. The name, Muscular Arteries of the eye, has been especially given to two branches sent off by the ophthalmic artery: - the one, inferior, which furnishes branches to the rectus inferior oculi, lachrymal sac, &c., and some of the anterior ciliary arteries: the other- the superior, which is sometimes wanting; but, when it exists, gives branches to the rectus superior oculi and levator palpebrae superioris.
