(F.), Blood-stroke. A common term, used by some physicians in France, to designate the loss of sensation and motion, which results from hemorrhage in the brain, or from simple congestion in the vessels of that organ. See Apoplexy. Some authors have comprehended, under the same denomination, different hemorrhages, which occur in the areolar texture of the face, lungs, skin, &c.
