The leaves- Belladonna (Ph. U. S.)-are powerfully narcotic, and also diaphoretic, and diuretic. They are occasionally used where narcotics are indicated. Sprinkling the powdered leaves over cancerous sores has been found to allay the pain; and the leaves form a good poultice. Dose, gr. 1/2 to gr. j of the powdered leaves.
