A German historical and miscellaneous writer; born at Halle, Jan. 26, 1797; died at Hamburg, April 13, 1869. Her most important work is "A Historical View of the Languages and L'terature of the Slavic Nations" (1850). Among her other writings are: "Psyche: Original Tales" (1824); "Servian Songs" (1825-26); and "Characteristics of the Popular Songs of the German Nations" (1840).
