(1755-1828), born in Rhode Island, studied painting in Europe and painted portraits of many distinguished Europeans. He returned to America in 793 and painted several portraits of Washington, the first of which was destroyed, and the second is in the Boston Athenaeum. His Pictures are very numerous and exhibit rare genius in portraying individual character.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
