A Persian poet; born in Chargird, province of Herat, in the fifteenth century; died 1520 (?). His fame rests upon a series of five epic poems in couplets, in which he takes Nisami and Amir Chusrau, of Delhi, as his models. Three of the series are: "Laila and Mejnunnun"; "Love of the Sassanid Khosru"; "Haft Mansar" (Seven Beauties). The fourth in a fragmentary state, while the final one is the "Book of the Seven Timurs". He was one of the last of Persia's great epic poets, and his genius is of a high order.
