A German romance-writer; born at Radmeritz, Jan. 6, 1653; died near Leipsic, Sept. 8, 1697. His principal work "The Asiatic Banise" (new ed. 1766), in the heroic-gallant style, has exerted great influence on the formation of the taste of several generations of Germans.
