(1725-1788) from 1766 to 1774 Speaker of the Massachusetts Assembly, was elected to the first and second Continental Congresses, and was a member of the convention that ratified the Federal Constitution in 1788. From 1783 to 1788 he was Lieutenant-Governor of Massachusetts.
